Coates Athletic FC formed thier reserves side in preparation for the 2004/05 season, becuase the club attracted a large amount of new players and one side would not be able to play them all!!
The reserve side started off life in Combination 3 (the bottom tier of the PDFL but won promotion in the 2007/08 season to Combination 2.
Trever Sercombe has been manager of the team ever since it's formation as is still in charge today. Trevor has been at the club for a vast number of years and following a knee injury he decided he would take on the challenge of managing the reserve team. Although, he has since cleaned up his boots and has been playing regularly for the side!
For the 2008/09 season Trev will be assisted by Scott Ding. Scott arrived at the club from local rivals Whittlesey United and was instrumental in helping the reserve side achieve promotion in his first season during the 2007/08 campaign. Trev approached Dinger during the summer of 2008 to be his assistant and Dinger jumped at the chance to help run the side.
The side's trophy cabinet remains empty with last the 2007/08 season's 2nd place finish being the sides best finish to date. The reserve team always enjoys the cup runs but has never managed to get a final....could this be the year?? Let's hope so!
