Coates Athletic FC Sunday Team was established in 2008 and finished 3rd in their debut season in the Peterborough Sunday Morning Division 1. They were promoted to the Premier Division for the 2009/10 season.

Coates did not enjoy the best cup campaigns as early exists occured in all 3 cup competitions, the management have expressed their desire to win some silverware for the first time during the 2009/10 season.

The side was formed to allow the many local lads in the Whittlesey and Coates area to play football for a local side based in the town.
